Chennai: Minister of Fisheries, Fishermen Welfare and Livestock, Anitha R Radhakrishnan on Saturday said in the Assembly that the government would build 31 new fish landing centers in all coastal districts at a cost of Rs 359 Crore.
Of these, 11 fishing centers will appear in the Tuticorin District at a cost of Rs 109 Crore, he said.
Radhakrishnan comes from the Tuticorin District.
Fish landing centers will be built in Cuddalore (6), Chengalpet (7), Kanyakumari (3) Mayiladuthurai (2), Thanjavur (1) and Villupuram (1) District, the minister said while replying to the debate about the demands of the department’s demands.
To prevent marine erosion in Puthenthurai Village in Kanyakumari Regency, the department will build a wall that spends RS22 Crore, he said.
He added that the fisheries-cum-cum-cum research center will be established in Tuticorin spend RS3.2 Crore to offer training to fishermen to improve their expertise and increase their income.
He said the fisherman port in Tuticorin would be folded and deepened at RS5 Crore.
“Protecting the welfare and fishing rights of traditional fish of fishermen is the government’s top priority.
It is also the government’s goal to get the National Commission for the welfare of fishermen to maintain the welfare of marine and land fishermen,” Minister said.
The government will establish a sophisticated multispective hospital and research center for pets in Nandanam at Rs7.99 Crore.
It will also document the original breed dog, the Minister said.
The government will encourage the University of Veterinary Sciences and Science Animals Tamil Nadu to conduct research for animal repairs, poultry and the food sector in the state.
Collathur to get the trade in ornamental fish, the government will establish an international ornamental fish trade center in Colathur in Chennai with the cost of RS50 Crore, Minister of Fisheries – Welfare and Animal Husbandry Anitha R Radhakrishnan told the State Assembly on Saturday.
The trade center will be established with contributions from the government and private players.
He said the fish market ornaments in Colathur developed and almost 2,000 families depend on him for livelihoods.
The coming facilities will further expand support to large-scale traders with exports and logistics, he said.
