Trichy: The prestigious institution of the national importance status (this) has been given at the Indian Food Processing Institute (IIIFPT), Thanjavur.
IIIFPT is a national research and educational institutions that function under the Union of the Ministry of Food Processing Industry.
Considering the importance of IIIFP in the development of the food processing sector, the Institute has been given this status to improve further research standards.
Parliament on July 26 unanimously passed the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIPM) Bill, 2021 to declare IIFPT as this.
Director IIIFPT Dr.
C Anandharamakrishnan said the development would open the way for the Functional Autonomy of the Institute for Administrative Policy Decisions and Building a New Department to meet skilled workforce requirements.
This status will also allow the Institute to start new innovative courses and research in food technology.
