Coimbatore: Jallikattu (traditional tame event) was inaugurated by Electricity V Senthil Balaji in Chettipalayam in Coimbatore on Friday in the midst of restrictions Covid-19.
About 700 bulls and 300 tamers participated in the event.
Bulls are brought from Madurai, Pulajottai, Tiruchy, Salem, Thanjavur, Dindigul, Theni and Ramanathapuram.
Tamers Banteng is permitted to take part in a batch.
For each round that lasts for one hour, 50 tamers are permitted.
Those who managed to tame the Bulls, eligible to take part in the final round scheduled to occur at 3pm.
With Covid-19 restrictions on the spot, the audience is limited to several hundred.
The audience was instructed to follow Covid behavior that fits at any time.
Jinjing players and bull owners are given many prizes including gold and silver coins, bicycles, steel beds and bureaus, watches and equipment.
The best tamer bull will win a car and two wheels to be given as the second and third gift at the end of the event.
