Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government and Kerala on Friday agreed to establish a technical sub-committee to assess the multi-nallar straight cutting scheme to avoid a long distance route and deliver water from the upper nirar to the Nallar River.
The discussion included building a new dam under the Pandiyar-Punnampuzha project to divert water to Noyyy and Bhavani Basin in Tamil Nadu.

Kerala government officials suggested having a subsequent round of talks between ministers or ministerial heads in Chennai,” said Secretary Tamil Nadu Pwd Sandeep Saxena.
The Kerala Government on Friday gave a principle approval to divert 2.5TMCT water from Anamalitar, which formed a part of the original Alii Project, and the old demand from the Tamil Nadu government.
The proposed technical sub-committee will look into the anamalarrow project too.
The Tamil Nadu government has suggested a new location for the construction of dams under the Pandiyar-Punnampuzha project.
It will control the flood until its limits on the Chaliyar River from Kerala.
“Kerala has given a nod principle to the project,” Saxena said.
Both parties are interested in producing power from the project.
Kerala has raised the security problem of the Mullasyar dam where the Government of Mr.
