Krishnagiri: Flood Warning Issued for five districts in Tamil Nadu – Krishnaguri, Dharmapuri, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Cuddalore – on Thursday after KRP (Project Reservoir Krishnagiri) The dam almost reached a full capacity of 52 feet.
Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) said the water level in the dam was stood at 51.20 feet on Thursday against a capacity of 52 feet.
Inflow was measured at 400 cusecs while the discharge was maintained at 559 cusecs.
Krishnagiri District Collector V Jaya Chandra Bhanu Reddy stated that the flood warnings would apply throughout the river route in Keneknai starting from the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border to the Cuddalore district, where the river joined Bay Bay.
“People who live closer to the banks of the river must move to safer places,” the collector said.
He said officials in the districts concerned had issued a warning to people and advised them not to enter the river to bathe and fish.
