CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government, which on Sunday extended lockdown in the state till June 28, divided the state into three categories.
The government retained existing restrictions in 11 districts in the west and central region.
In 23 other districts, it has permitted more services and establishments to operate for extended hours.
It announced additional relaxations in Chennai region comprising Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet districts.
Category 1: 11 districts — Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Myladuthurai districts Category 2: 23 districts – Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Kanyakumari, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Ranipet, Sivaganga, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Tuticorin, Trichy, Villupuram, Vellore and Virudhunagar Category 3: Four districts – Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet districts Category 1 districts Existing restrictions and relaxations will continue till June 28, 2021.
Category 2 # Standalone provision and departmental stores, vegetable shops, meat shops and fish stalls can function from 6am to 7pm # Roadside vendors selling vegetables, fruits and flowers can sell from 6am to 7pm # Hotels, restaurants and bakeries can operate between 6am to 9pm and provide parcel services only; Food delivery e-commerce services permitted during the time # Other e-commerce service providers too permitted to operate between 6am to 9pm # Sweet and savouries shops permitted to remain open from 6am to 9pm # State government offices providing essential services can operate with 100% employees.

People from category two and three districts are permitted to travel inter-district to attend weddings after obtaining e-pass.
