TN LOGS 16.096 New Covid Case, 35 Death

Chennai: While the fresh Covid-19 case continued to fall on Tuesday when the country reported 16,096 new cases, public health officials reiterated the need for facial masks and maintained social distance due to the reopening of schools and educational institutions could increase the risk of transmission.
The country issued 25,592 people from the registry and reported 35 deaths, which left nearly 1.9 lakh people in the active registry.
“While senior students over the age of 15 are vaccinated, the youngest students do not.
Schools ensure students with symptoms of isolated flu besides encouraging students to comply with the Covid protocol on campus,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan, who visited the government school girl at Ashok Nagar at Ashok Nagar Tuesday.
The teacher will seek help from the local school and PHC health team if students are sick, he added.
Chennai reported 2,324 new cases followed by 1,897 in Coimbatore, 1308 in Chengalpet, and 1,297 cases in Tiruppur.
All other districts reported less than 1,000 cases.
Of the 35 deaths, Chennai reported 18, Coimbatore had three, and Chengalpet and Thanjavur reported two respectively.
Krishnagiri, Tiruvallur, Trichy.
Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Tenkasi, Tuticorin, Tirupathur, Dindigul, and Nagapattinam each reported one death.
“We don’t have our environment and icus full like how we look in the second wave, but we still see many parents especially those who are not vaccinated and people with comorbid conditions in the ICU,” said Public Health Director Dr.
S Selvavinayagam.
