Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday urged the United States to release the subsequent subsidy country of Rs 5,231.09 Crore immediately.
Food Minister R Sakkarapani submitted a request during his meeting with the Piyush Piyush Piyush Minister in Delhi.
“The Union Minister told the officials concerned to take immediate action and release funds,” Sakkarapani told reporters in Delhi.
The state government also demanded that the center increase the cost of fixed milling for raw rice and parebel rice, which has not been revised since 2005, to Rs 100 / Quintal and Rs 60 / Quintal.
Also, the country insisted on rice sold by the Food Corporation of India to the state government with market tariffs reduced to Rs 15 / kg from Rs 20 / kg.
Because the Government has implemented a special PDS scheme, where the Dal toor, Urad Dal, Palmolein and Sugar are sold at subsidized rates from the previous DMK regime, Sakkarapani said the country has requested the center to supply toor dal at a lower level of the Indian National Cooperative Marketing Federation ( Nafed).
The state urges the United Government to consider increasing rice levels from 17% to 20% for the Kharif season.
“The Union Minister assures us that the action will be taken for our demands,” Sakkarapani said.
In the complaint of the PDS smuggling to the neighboring Kerala, the Minister of Food said the government had decided to expand Cid Zone’s civilian inventory to four on the police line.
This means Trichy and Coimbatore become zones, besides Chennai and Madurai.
More personnel will be deployed in the rank of police supervisors, Deputy SP, inspectors and sub-inspectors to check irregularities.
The minister said that the Cooperative Department had also been given orders to buy rice besides the civil supply department from September and so on.
The administrator in the district has been told to keep the rice fields obtained safely and send it to the factory to be processed.
“Personal peel agents have assured that they will install color sorting machines to ensure good quality rice at the end of this month.
Civil Supply Corporation also installed a machine in three modern rice factories.
Tender has floated during 18 other modern rice mills,” Minister said.
