TN: MAN GORED to death, 90 injuries in Manjuvirattu

Trichy: A 52-year-old man was scratched to death while 90 others suffered an injury at the Manjuviratttu event held in Virachilai near Thirumayam in the Pudul District district on Friday.
About 600 bulls and a large number of bull tailors took part in sports held in connection with Diwali.
Police Revenues and Officials Stopped the event in the middle of the road, stating that the sport was held without getting a previous permission and ordered a case against 10 villagers.
According to sources, usually for Manjuvirattu held every year considering the Diwali festival in the village.
However, because of the Pandemic Covid-19, the event was not held in the past two years.
Although the state government has announced various relaxation after the Corona case fell in the past few days, the government did not state anything about Jallikattu behavior or advancing, added sources.
About 600 bulls from Pulajottai, Theni, Trichy, Madurai, Dindigul and Sivagangai participated in the event.
A large number of people gathered on the ground from all districts inside and around Pulajottai and tried to tame the bulls.
In contrast to the conventional Jallikattu event where the Bulls ran inside a limited area, Bulls walked in a haphazard manner among the crowd in Manjuvirattu.
During the event, G Karuppaiiah 52, from Parali in the Pulajottai district surrendered to a sad injury after a bull released on his land, the police said.
Information that the event was carried out without getting a previous agreement, Palaniyappan Village Administration officer filed a complaint to the police.
Thirumayam Tahsildar Pravina Mary rushed to the place and was ordered to stop the event suddenly.
Based on official complaints, Panayapi police registered a case against the committee under various parts of the IPC.
