Coimbatore: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for threatening a college girl student in Tirupur with his morphed photo to make a nude video call to him.
Tirupur Cybercrime Police identified the defendant as Niaz, a resident of Mettukadu near Kuniyamuthur at Coimbatore City.
He is an electrician.
An investigative officer said Niyaz had opened two Instagram accounts on behalf of as many women as possible.
“He was friends with a campus girl on Instagram, downloading his photo and chatting with him for the past few months.
Believing that he chatted with another girl, he also shared his photo with him.” Niyaz, said the officer, changed his picture and threatened to circulate obscene images On social media, if he doesn’t make a nude video call to him.
