Tuticorin: Depressed with his children who did not take care of him, a 70-year-old widow ended his life by turning himself on Pudur near Vilathikulam on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as kasimmal, a resident of Kamarajar Street in Pudur.
Her husband Pachakalai, a farmer, died a few years ago.
The couple has five children including four sons.
One of his sons was dead and the other four including the princess married and settled elsewhere.
He was upset because his children were resolved well but did not take care of him.
On Friday, he attended the temple festival at Ayan Bommaiyapuram near Vilathikulam, where he missed his sovereign gold chains to add to his depression.
After returning home he froze himself.
Pudur police took his burning body and sent it to the Vilathikulam government hospital for postmortem.
The police took the suicide note he wrote to his youngest son Vijay.
Asked him to forgive him to take extreme steps, he questioned the purpose he lived alive.
He stated that once he was a person who loves home but is now ignored and not valued by everyone.
He asked him to do his last ceremony and to connect with his younger brother about their property.
