New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to confiscate at least four major highway projects in Tamil Nadu because the contractor cannot obtain land for land work and has been waiting for months to get legal permits.
NHAI has also made a decision to sphere to work in half a dozen projects again where it has not received land from state government institutions and also waiting for different licenses.
Toi has known that the Ministry of Transportation Road has written to the Secretary of the Head of State which states that “obstacles” to carry out the ongoing works in a dozen crucial highway projects in the state have been postponed.
“On the one hand, the state government sent a number of proposals to the center for developing a highway while on the other hand it was unable to provide the necessary support to complete the ongoing work.
Delays only produce private contractors who raise claims on NHAI and arbitration,” said a person Officials, who do not want to be named.
Source said the ministry has registered projects that must be taken over and this includes two 4-laning projects from stretching from the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border to Kanyakumari and two 6-laning projects from Waljapet to Waljapet.
“All projects in Kanakumumari Regency have stalled because the contractor cannot obtain land for land work.
About 19 mines and the Burrow area has been closed and obtained approval from the Hill Area Conservation Authority almost impossible.
Equally the importance of the two projects in the Sriperumbudur-Waljapet corridor.
None The availability of Burrow Earth and also the ash pool is not available, “said a source.
Officials said in other cases such as two projects from 4-laning from Vikravandi to Cholapuram, NHAI has not received the required land and therefore will close the contract by eliminating work on the remaining parts not available.
They said in the case of the 4-Laning Pollachi-Coimbatore project, the State Government has not provided the land required to establish a toll plaza and therefore NHAI cannot collect user costs.
“Some projects begin in 2016 and we are still struggling to get land, land, and other permits.
How long will we wait.
The burden of NHAI’s delay increases,” said an official.
However, government officials Tamil Nadu said that major actions had been taken since July to resolve problems related to projects, both land acquisition or permission for Burrow.
Head of Secretary V IRAI Anbu has held a meeting in July with 25 district collectors to sort out the problem.
