TN: Norms at wk for Internet Courses to Test harassment

CHENNAI: The state government has chosen to invoke the Pocso Act against people who misbehave during online courses and also to frame guidelines to run and regulate online courses in colleges and educational associations to stop sexual harassment of pupils. A helpline will be set for pupils to whine. The cyber crime will look into the circumstances. The move comes a day after a instructor that misbehaved during internet course was arrested following complaints of harassment with pupils went viral about social networking. In an announcement, chief minister K Stalin explained the college education section will framework guidelines for regulating and conducting online courses per week where a committee composed of commissioner of college instruction department, police officers of cyber crime wing and offense against kids, academicians and IT specialists are set up. In addition, he stated that colleges must document online courses along with the records must be assessed periodically by a committee composed of their parent-teacher institution. The decision had been taken in a meeting chaired by Stalin on Wednesday to talk about strategies to govern online courses and also to determine the sort of action which may be obtained when things go wrong through the behavior of courses.
