THANJAVUR: Thanjavur district management in conjunction with the regional transportation section and volunteer organisations has organized four trucks equipped with medical oxygen to patients awaiting admission in Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital. Today, the police have turned into a private bus using berths in an aviation, that is available in Monday. Since Thanjavur is reporting more than 1,000 new cases each day, individuals with acute Covid-19 symptoms needed to await beds in the hospital. For these patients with breathing problems, the district government setup two vehicles armed with oxygen concentrators two weeks past. Each vehicle can offer oxygen aid to both patients till they are admitted to the wards. “We’re organizing a personal sleeper bus today. At the moment, patients have been seated at the vehicles, however, at the omnibusthey could lay back on the berths,” S Muthukumar, director of volunteer crews, stated. The trucks were supplied by Thamarai International School from town. Two additional trucks with oxygen tanks were stationed in the screening centers of Thanjavur Corporation in Manambuchavadi along with the railroad hospital. “The cellular oxygen service centers were of amazing support to stop mortalities. The trucks may also behave as oxygen-supported ambulances also,” Dr S Namasivayam, deputy manager of healthcare told TOI.
