Chennai: Higher Education Engineering is likely to continue the physical class for first year students from February 1.
The online exam for the rest will be held until February 20.
Art and Science Colleges plans to complete an online exam for all students before calling them back to campuses.
B Chidambarajan, Principal of SRM Vallimamai Engineering College, who looked at the classes from Tuesday, said they had to complete the syllabus for first year students in the first two weeks before starting a practical exam.
Some colleges want to give time for outstation students to order tickets.
“The physical class for first year students will start from the second week of February while the regular class for second students, the third year will begin after the online exam,” said R M Kishore, Deputy Chairperson of RMK Engineering College.
Art Colleges and Science have completed syllabus for first year students.
“The online exam for second and third students will be held from February 1.
They will attend the physical class from February 11.
First year students will attend the class after the exam from 10 to 20 February,” Santhosh Baboo said, the principal Dg Vaishnav College.
Academics have urged the government to return to offline exams.
“When the physical class is allowed in college, conducting an online exam is a wrong step.
Because the online exam is not proctorored, the government must return to the offline exam,” said E Balagurusamy, eg.

The Department of School Education has asked officials to reopen all schools from February 1.
