Chennai: Tamil Nadu plans to hold 10,000 Covid-19 vaccination camps on Sunday (September 12) to autoculate 20 lakh people on one day, Minister of Health MA Subramanian said on Sunday.
He said the discussion was ongoing with district collectors and health authorities and that he would visit Kankumumari Regency, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar to complete arrangements for camps.
Subramanian also said the country would receive the largest vaccine stock – 19,22,080 doses – on Sunday.
TN has requested additional supply to vaccinate people living in nine districts along the border of Kerala.
The daily count in neighboring countries is between 25,000 and 30,000.
Tamil Nadu has so far analyzed 3.31 crore people.
Daily vaccine coverage, which is above 5 lakh last week, fell to 3,64,965 on Sunday.
For fourth day in a row, the number of fresh infections in Tamil Nadu is increasing.
1,592 people were tested positively in the last 24 hours pushing the case state for 26.22 lakh.
Compared to Saturday, the number of infections increased marginally in 19 of 38 TN districts including Chengalpet (127), Tiruvallur (84), Trichy (18) and Madurai (18).
Nagapattinam witnessed the sharpest increase from 29 to 46 new cases on Sunday.
New cases in Chennai continue to remain stable around 160.
21,193 tests, 167 positive on Sundays.
The district test level of 0.8% is below the state number 1%.
Coimbatore once again reported the highest number of cases (224) but no death in this district.
Because this district shares the border with Kerala, the health authority has begun to test more people there.
Last week, 10,000 samples were played every day.
It’s 11,815 on Sunday.
With a 98% high recovery rate, the number of active cases in TN has dropped to 16,282.
