Chennai: Everyone in Tamil Nadu will soon get a unique health ID (UHID) which will help them access Medicare and provide a database government to prioritize and provide health care.
Announcing this in the Assembly on Thursday, Minister of Health MA Subramanian said, “Digitalization will help us see what is needed.
This will help us create adequate physical infrastructure according to demand.” While digital notes will help patients seek treatment at which hospital Also, the state will have denominators for all diseases.
This data will be a driving force for all policy decisions, “said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
Unique ID will also be the backbone for a scheme such as the thedi maruthum, schemes to provide comprehensive and holistic health care for non-communicable diseases in front of the door of people.
Each recipient listed under this scheme was brought under the health population registry (PHR).
The registry will have a name, age, gender, cellphone number, smart (ration) card number, health ID, street details, health sub-centers from beneficiaries.
The state has tested the UHID projects in two blocks of Krishnagiri district.
“We now have a name, address, and contact details.
With medical details about each person who digitizes, the nurse does not need to bring a large register to make a check on vaccination, tests or drug delivery,” said a senior official.
For example, reminders can be sent for tests or screening and results can be sent on the phone.
This policy will ensure “the right to health and health care as the foundation of the state health system,” said Minister.
