Chennai: PlaySchools and kindergartens in Tamil Nadu will be reopened after almost two years on February 16 when the government on Saturday lifted most of the limiting locking with Covid-19 cases down to 2,812 in the country.
However, the government extended the ban on political, cultural and social events until March 2 while allowing trade shows.
It also increases the number of people permitted in the wedding function of 100 to 200 and in the funeral of 50 to 100.
“Except for this condition, all other restrictions have been withdrawn,” said the state government in the release.
This means hotels, restaurants, bakeries, multiplex, theater, shops, showrooms, jewelry stores, clubs, fitness centers, sports events in indoor stadiums, beauty homes, salons and amusement parks will be permitted with a capacity of 100%.
So far, they are permitted to function with only a capacity of 50%.
“The State Government announced various relaxation considering the livelihood of the community.
I asked the public to wear masks in public places, maintain social distance and to take multiple vaccination,” Minister M Minister M St Stalin said in a statement.
Shops have been asked to continue to place a hand sanitiser dispenser at the entrance and allow customers after thermal screening.
Stalin appealed to shop owners to ensure that their employees and customers wore masks.
“This is a welcome step by the state government.
