Madurai: Heavy rain whipping Ramanathapuram and its surroundings on Friday night and Saturday morning forced the district administration to declare a holiday for schools in the district.
The rain gradually reduced that night but that day remained extraordinarily cloudy.
However, the coastal area of Rameswaram and Pamban did not receive heavy rainfall.
Madurai has drizzled in many parts of the city in the morning while the sky remains cloudy, something unusual in February.
Cold weather wins all day.
Meanwhile, the surface of the water in the Mullasiyar Dam stood at 132 feet with an entry flow of 71 Cusec while 600 Cusec was removed from it.
The water level in the Vaigai Dam stands at 69 feet with 178 cusec and outflow inflows of 219 cusecs.
