TN Red-Flags BSNL’s 1,250CR Asset ‘Monetizing’ Plan

Chennai: BSNL bid to clean around 1,250 crores by selling more than 54.6 hectares of property landed has experienced rough weather, because the Tamil Nadu government has a marked red movement.
The surrounded PSU has been informed by the State Revenue Department in December that land parcels, located in commercial areas and premium housing such as eGmore, bazaar flowers, triplicane, royapettah and vyasarpadi and suburban areas such as Ennore, Albathur and Chengalpet City cannot be ‘monetised’ Without the consent of the Tamil Nadu government.
BSNL has identified eight main properties for sale in the first phase.
Objection of income was raised when BSNL officials approached the first for the issue related to the transfer of the Patta.
While the title for most of the land provided by the Tamil Nadu government to the Telecom Department (DOT) in the past was transferred on behalf of BSNL, there were certain problems in the ‘Pattas’ of several land parcels.
Because this land was initially acquired by the state government and was allocated to the Telecom Department for certain purposes, assets could not be sold or used for other purposes, the state had reasoned.
Development came a few days after Tamil Nadu Minister of Finance PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan highlighted the rights of the state of the state of the properties when they were privatized by the trade union government.
However, C K Mathivanan, the Senior Vice President of the National Federation of Telecommunications Employees, said post-monetization, BSNL is likely to use resources only to increase its infrastructure.
