Chennai: The effect of increasing lively activities and the increase in trips as long as Pongal became seen when cases continued to increase in several country rural areas on Friday when the country added compared to 28,561 on Thursday.

Coimbatore, who reported the second number of new cases had 3653 new patients compared to 3390 on Thursday.
Cases in Madurai (903), Thanjavur (684), Villupuram (460) and Tuticorin (405) reported an increase between 25-45% compared to their Thursday counting.
“People from the cities go to their hometown to celebrate Pongal.
There are crowds in many homes, family reunions, and lunch.
We really expect cases to increase in rural areas.
That has happened,” said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
The day before Pongal on January 13, Tamil Nadu reported 20,911 new Covid cases.
Since then many districts have reported a three-fold increase in new cases.
For example, cases in Tiruvarur surged from 90 January to 297 January on Friday and in Nagapattinam increased to 182 out of 57 in the last eight days.
Likewise the case in Pulajottai rose to 234 of 76.
Almost all districts in their respective states reported more than 100 cases.
With 127 new cases Sivaganga is at the bottom of the country list followed by a scrambler (128) and Kalakurichi (141).
