Chennai: After floating at 30,000 new Covid-19 cases for four days, Tamil Nadu added 29,976 new cases on Wednesday, when reporting 47 deaths and issued 27,507 people from the registry state.
At the end of the day there were 2.13 lakh cases active in the country’s registry.
Although new cases fell for fourth consecutive days, at least 13 districts reported an increase in everyday cases compared to their tally.
The sharpest increase was recorded in Salem, where cases rose to 1,457 compared to 1087 on Tuesday.
During the same case in Tirupur it increased to 1,787 of 1,490.
Of the 2.13 lakh active case, 9,910 (4.6%) was in the hospital with 1132 of them in the ICU.
Throughout the state more than 80% of all beds are empty.
The death of 47 meanwhile took the calculation of cumulative death to 37,359.
Two of 47 patients did not have comorbid conditions.
At least 40 of the 48 people whose deaths were reported above 60 years.
On Wednesday, 57093 people over 15 years took the first dose and both Covid-19 vaccines.
So far, 2.52 lakh people have taken the dosage of caution.
