Chennai: new cases of Covid-19 fell to 1,164 on Thursday compared to 1.170 on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu.
However, 14 districts reported an increase between one and six on Thursday compared to Wednesday’s calculation.
Chennai, who continued to report the maximum number of cases, recorded 152 new cases on Thursday – increased from 148 cases of city reported on Wednesday.
The only other district in the state to report more than 100 cases is coimbatore.
The Western District reported 137 new cases on Thursday, compared to 1911 on Wednesday.
Tiruppur and Kanyakumari reported the sharpest increase in the last 24 hours.
While cases in Tiruppur increased to 73 of 67 on Wednesday, Kanyakumari reported 19 against 13 on Wednesday.
There are less than 25 cases in at least 27 countries, and among them 10 districts report cases in one digit.
Ariyal (2) recorded the number of new cases that was the least followed by four each in the screens, tiety and virudhunagar.
20 deaths reported on Thursday, taking the calculation of cumulative tolls in the state to 35,968 and the total number of cases touched 26.91 lakh.
Of the 20 deaths, there were three of the Cuddalore, two of each of the coimbatore, Erode, Thanjavur.
Trichy and Dindigul.
Seven districts – Chennai, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Namakkal, Kancheepuram, Ramanathapuram and Ariyalur – reported one death.
Meanwhile, a 1.7 lakh vaccinated state on Thursday took the calculation of cumulative doses in the 515crore country vaccination centers.
So far, the state has been vaccinated by 26.16 lakh people in private hospitals since May 1.
