Chennai: New cases in Tamil Nadu dropped to 1,872 on Thursday compared to 1,891 on Wednesday, although eleven districts in the state reported a marginal increase over the same period of time.
Death also rose to 29 compared to 27 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, this case touched 25.43lakh and the cumulative death toll reached 33,838.
At the end of the day, 2,475 patients were removed from the Covid registry and there were 25,526 people who were in care.
The cases in Thanjavur touched a three-digit sign once again when the district reported 102 cases compared to 90 on Wednesday.
There was an increase in eleven new cases each in Pulajottai and Thirupathur in the last 24 hours.
These districts report 31 and 29 cases respectively.
Dharmapuri, Nilgiris, Kanyakumari, Thiruvarur, Satias, Villupuram, Nagapattinam and Tuticorin also reported a marginal increase in new cases.
On Thursday, fresh Covid-19 cases in Coimbatore fell to 180 but the Western District reported the highest number of cases in the state.
There were 137 new cases in Erode and 133 in Chennai.
Prohibiting six districts, others in the country report cases in two digits.
A scrambler reported 9 new cases – the lowest – followed by 10 in Tenkasi and 11 in Ramanathapuram.
Theni has 12 new cases.
Coimbatore has 2,388 patients in an active list followed in 1852 in Erode and 1658 in Chennai.
Active cases under 1000 in 30 districts.
Tenaskasi has 150 people under care – the lowest, followed by 152 in Ramanathapuram.
TPR remains below 2% at the Pondythe Test Positivity Rate (TPR) Covid-19 infection continues to remain less than 2% in the Puducherry Union area.
The sample front level (4,631) was tested on Thursday reaching 1.5%.
