Chennai: With 1,904 new cases, Tamil Nadu reported less than 2000 new cases for the second day on Tuesday, which pushed Case Tally to 25.39 lakh.
The toll of death, including 30 deaths on Tuesday, took the total toll to 33,782.
At the end of the day, 2,439 patients were removed from the Covid registry and there were 26,717 people who underwent treatment for viral infections.
Coimbatore reported 204 cases – the highest number of cases in the country-followed by Chennai (141), Salem (133), Erode (129) and Chengalpet (111).
While Tiruppur and Thanjavur reported each of 106 and 102 cases, all other districts reported a case in two digits.
Among other cities, Trichy reported 66 cases, Madurai had 28 and Tirunelveli had 27 new cases.
On Tuesday, when the country drew a sample of 1.3 lakh people for tests, 26 districts reported under 50 cases each and among 15 of which were below 25.
While Ramanathapuram reported 9 new cases – Tenkasi reported 10 and tuticorin 12.
“We ask all districts to increase the test even though there is a reduction in the case.
The decline has slowed in several districts and some of the others showed a marginal increase in the level of publication,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
Of the 30 deaths, Coimbatore reported five, Erode and Tiruvanammala reported four each and Chennai reported three.
While Salem and Trichy reported two respectively, 16 districts reported one death and 22 other districts did not have death.
Of the 1.83 doses of crore vaccines managed by the state so far, the state has provided 1.17 lakh doses on Tuesday.
This is lower than the vaccination of 2.3 lakh on Monday.
