Chennai: Tamil Nadu on Monday reported 1,556 new Covid-19 cases and 18 deaths so as to encourage the overall calculation to 26,24,234 and 35,036, the health department said.
A total of 1,564 people were finished and 1.55,609 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number of specimens checked up to 4.32.72,865 to date.
Four state districts consist of most new infections -Coimbatore 206, Chennai 169, Chengalpet 110 and Thanjavur 104 and no death in 26 districts.
Theni recorded a new number of new infections with three, said the bulletin.
Of the 18 deaths, 12 were in government and six in private health facilities.
A 47-year-old man from Thiruvallur died even though he did not have an existing disease or co-morbidity.
He tested positive on July 30 and died on September 5 because Pneumonia Covid-19, said Bulletin.
The Minister of State for Medical Welfare and the MA Subramanian family said the government would hold 10,000 vaccination camps on September 12 to invest 12 lakh.
Briefing reporters after examining the camp here, he said additional vaccination camps will be held in nine districts bordering Kerala.
“On September 12, we plan to do 10,000 camps.
Even though they will be held in all 38 of these districts, officials are advised to arrange additional camps in nine districts,” he said.
During his visit to New Delhi recently, Subramanian said he had asked the health minister of Union Mansukh Mandviyah to distribute additional doses for all citizens of nine districts who experienced a high level of infection.
Subramanian said on request, this center released 19,22,080 vaccines on Sunday.
“Until now, we have been vaccinated 3,53,93,780 people.
Vaccination began on January 16.
On Saturday, 6.20 lakh people got JAB on one day,” he said.
He said the Ministry of Health had infrastructure for 10,000 camps, he said while asking for teaching brotherhood to help health workers.
“Teacher too, must create awareness and ask community members to be vaccinated,” he said.
