TN returns to the semester exam online mode

Chennai: In the midst of a Covid-19 surge, the Department of Higher Education Tamil Nadu has decided to return to online exam mode for engineering, art and science and student polytechnic for the December 2021 semester.
“Given the Covid-19 situation, we have changed our decision To conduct an offline exam for students.
To avoid delays in passing for students in the past year, the State University will conduct semester examinations in online mode from February 1 to 20, “Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy told reporters on Friday after the meeting with the Chancellor’s representative Student organization and teacher association.
“All state universities will conduct online examinations in patterns and the same efforts will be taken to avoid malpractices in the online exam,” said Ponmudy.
However, the next semester exam in June or July 2022 will be carried out offline, the Minister said.
Previously, the government provided a vacation study to students until January 31 followed a surge in Covid-19 cases.
Following the allegations of malpractice in unattended online exams, the government decided to do an offline mode test.
At the observation of the court that Madras University had lost its reputation, said the minister, meeting principals under the university had been held on January 29 to discuss ways to improve university standards.
He said the academics and the Tamil Nadu State Council for higher education (Tansche) will also be involved in work.
“The delay in conducting the exam will affect the next semester too.
For the sake of their students and safety, it was decided to conduct an online mode test.
This will be an unattended exam where students will be asked to write a pen.
Exam and paper after receiving online question papers .
They have to upload pictures and post the answer sheets of hard copies of answer sheets, “an official from the department of higher education participating in the meeting.
Higher Education Secretary D Karthikeyan, Madras University of Representative of Chancellor S Gowri, University of Anna Deputy Chanceliir R Velraj, Director of Higher Education and other officials participated in the meeting.
