Chennai: The state government has been planned to reopen school on September 1 for class IX, X, XI and XII, said Minister M Ken Stalin on Friday.
Medical Colleges and Institutes for nursing, para-medical and allies of health sciences will be allowed to reopen from August 16.
The school must follow the steps of the Covid-19 protocol and should not have more than 50% of students in the class at a time, said a statement.
CM arrived at the decision after reviewing the Covid-19 situation along with health experts and government officials at the meeting on Friday.
The current key which will end on August 9 has been extended until 6am on August 23, CM said.
To control the spread of infection, public worship will be banned in all places of worship on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from August 9.
Stalin said the medical expert in a round voice rose again to reopen the school.
“Experts say that staying at home for several months without going to school causing great stress between children and great learning gaps in society.
They also show that online classes are not available for most children,” he said.
The school education department has been told to take preliminary work.
Infectious diseases have been controlled because of the effective steps taken by collectors, corporate commissioners and police in areas where public gathering.
Awareness also increased after the State-Wide program was launched last week.
The ministerial head said the health and family welfare department would release standard operating procedures for medical colleges.
Students and faculty members from medical colleges have been vaccinated because they are treated as health staff.
The local body must ensure that meat and fish kiosks are separated and they are sold in an open place to avoid crowding, the ministerial head said.
Everyone must take an appointment to prevent the spread of the virus, Stalin said.
