TN: Technicians find gold falling on the road, return to the owner

Chennai: Salasubramaniyan and V Seenuvasan, colleagues at an IT company in Perumbakkam, breathe tea in a shop near their workplace on Saturday night when they saw a few pieces of gold jewelry on the road.
They collected two rings, bracelets and chains and handed them up to the Perumbakkam police station and received a pat of law enforcement.
His fate was returned to the owner on Monday morning.
Two young software engineers returned home after work when they stopped for their favorite CUPPA at 8:30 a.m.
and saw the ring on the ground.
They first thought it was imitation things but they saw several other gold pieces inches.
“We decided to refrain from touching gold when we saw ‘Thayathu’ (pendant), when we suspect someone can do black magic and throw jewelry to divert us,” said the 24-year-old Balasubramanian.
Seenuvasan, 25, thinking that someone plays a joke and looks around to check once.
Then, they checked with the nearest shop employees but did not find answers.
They then decided to hand over jewelry to the tea shop workers and click on the photo handed over gold as proof.
They asked the tea shop staff to hand over gold to a legitimate owner if he came looking and returned.
They also gave their contact numbers to the staff at the tea shop and asked them to call if someone came looking for gold.
But, they remain nervous and worried if the jewelry will be handed over to a legitimate owner.
So, they returned to the store, took gold again and handed it to personnel at the Perumbakkam police station.
“We strive to surrender to the owner because he was sure he had bought it from the money from his hard work,” said Seenuvasan.
On Monday morning, the owner came to the shop looking for jewelry and was directed to the police station.
He told the personnel that he had moved jewelry to wash his face and his hands at the tea shop and save him in his pocket when he accidentally dropped him while removing a mask from his pocket.
He also asked police personnel to express his gratitude to two young men to return their valuable items.
