Chennai: Thousands of commuters in the southern edge of the city are expected to cheer when the fourth line between Tambaram and Chengalpet becomes operational within a week, helping to maintain the timeliness operated in the section.
On Thursday, train safety commissioner (CRS) checking tracks and special trains with seven trainers operated at a speed of 130kmph to test durability.
CRS will immediately issue a certificate before the train can be operated regularly.
CRS previously checked the track which was placed between Gudvancherry and Chengalpet in the Tambaram-Chengalpet section and, after the trial runs, providing a certificate of approval to operate regular services.
The number of 256 crorses spent placing the fourth lane between Tambaram and Chengalpet, covering a distance of 30 km.
All stations on stretches are ready for use by commuters, officially more.
At present, a senior Railway Southern official said three songs in the Tambaram-Chengalpet section were being used to operate suburban train services in the Chengalpet-Chennai beach section, Chennai coastal-chennai section, the south-border train and those who came from the south.
Chennai’s division from Southern Railway operates 20 pairs of suburban trains in the Chennai section of the beach-chengalpet during rush hour in the morning and the same amount at night.
Between 6pm and 9 nights, around 14 South trains were operated from Egmore, besides those who passed Eggore Station.
The priority is for the operation of remote trains.
Suburban train is operated with a fee of five minutes between two distance trains.
“Every delay in the operation of suburban train services in the section will affect the departure of the remote train.
Now, with the availability of a new line in the Tambaram-Chengalpet section, this problem can be overcome.
The suburban train can be operated regularly, and they can maintain timeliness, “The official said.
The new line operation will definitely occur as a relief for thousands of commuters, those who live in many housing environments that have sprung up between Tambaram and Chengalpet for many years, who use suburban trains in this section to travel to the city and return every day.
All train services in this section are packed during rush hour morning and evening, with commuters that demand from each platform available to introduce more services.
