TN: The owner died, 14 was hospitalized after chlorine leakage

Erode: Panic Thipped Chithiode Panchayat Town in Erode District on Saturday after the leaking chlorine in the whitening powder manufacturing unit claimed the life of the 46-year-old unit owner.
Fourteen people, who suffered from trouble breathing, hospitalized.
The deceased was identified as R Damodharan Nadupalayam Village, Sridhar chemical owner.
Fire service personnel and rescue from Erode and Perdurai rushed to place and sealed leaks with the help of a technical team.
Those who were hospitalized were workers from the nearby weaving unit, said Erode H Krishnanunni’s collector.
“Six of them were treated in the ICU from the Erode District Head Office Hospital.
Their health conditions are said to be stable.
The rest is released after the first aid,” he said.
Chithiode police were investigating the incident.
