Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government announced Monday that it would apply a 10.5% special reservation for Vanniyars in entering all courses, including professional courses, from 2021-22.
“After consulting with legal experts and the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), Minister M K Chairman Stalin issued an order to apply a special reservation of 10.5% from February 26, 2021,” the official release said.
This after PMK shows that Vannyar quota is not mentioned in information and application brochures for engineering and art and science acceptance released on Monday.
When the Assembly was in a session, CM had told PMK Leader G K Mani that a good decision would be made to apply quota after consultation with legal experts and officials about changing the Roster system.
The previous AIDMK government has graduated the Law for a while providing a 10.5% special reservation for Vanniyar in a 20% quota for most of the MBC (MBC).
After the Supreme Court refused to remain a legislation in the first week of July, it was hoped that the special quota of 10.5% would be implemented from this academic year.
However, brochures reception and applications for technical courses, art and science do not mention reservations.
In a statement on Monday, the leader of the Ramadoss PMK asked the state government to attract notifications and issued new notifications including a special quota for Vanniyars.
Then on that day, the state government issued orders, who would see at least 14,000 be, BTECH seat and 10,000 seats in 143 arts and science colleges provided for Vanniyars.
20% of seats allocated to MBC in the existing MBBS seat matrix, almost 500 seats will be provided for Vanniyars.
PMK Balu spokesman said the government’s announcement would help lift vannyar socially and education because more students from the community would now enter professional college.
“This is an important day of the journey of social justice.
