TN to bring fresh law to ban Rummy online

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government will introduce fresh law to ban Rummy online in the state, following direction from the head of Minister M K Stalin, Minister of Law S Raghupathy said here on Wednesday.
Development came after Madras High Court on Tuesday that ruled the legislation which was introduced last November to ban Rummy online.
The statement from the government said the Chief Minister of Stalin, when he was an opposition leader, has demanded prohibiting changes online.
The AIADMK government then hurriedly passed the legislation and prohibited Rummy online at Tamil Nadu.
A petition was transferred to laws on Madras High Court.
On Tuesday the court ruled against the law quoted a lack of clarity why the state introduced a blanket ban on online games.
But the court said there was no bar in the state of bringing fresh law, Raghupathy observed.
Immediately after the court order, the minister’s chairman was directed to bring fresh law, it was quite clear behind the government’s movement, to ban Rummy online in the state, the Minister of Law Raghupathy said in a statement.
