Chennai: The Tamil Nadu The government has set a target of Rs 11,500 Crore to be explored as a loan to farmers through a cooperative bank in this fiscal year, the Minister of Cooperatives I ngaiasami told the assembly on Wednesday.
He said the government planned to increase loan disbursement of 22% to 25% in the next five years for the benefit of the agricultural community.
Distribution of loans from cooperative banks has reached 9.5% during the AIDMK government, the Minister said while replying to the former Minister of Cooperative Selur K Raju during the debate to the demands for the grant for the cooperative department.
After the selected DMK for power, the department has registered 2.30 lakh new members in the cooperative society and distributing loans with RS 120 crore tones.
It also distributes loans with 80 crore Rs tones to farmers in Thanjavur and the Delta region to take Kurvai cultivation.
It doubled the loan allocated by the previous AIDMK government, which has provided sanctions of RS 37 Crore for Kurvai cultivation, the Minister said.
“CM has insisted that new members must be given a loan,” said Minister and remember how the DMK regime under M Karutanidhi has revived banks and cooperative people by releasing loans with 7,000 crore rs songs.
He said 4,000 Godown was built during the AIADMK regime.
But they are not used.
Now, the government has made efforts to use facilities to store 5 lakh tons of rice obtained from farmers.
Busit former Minister of Cooperatives Sellur Raju claimed that the department had performed very well in the past 10 years, Periasamy said only 10 central cooperative banks functioned in profit, while 13 others slipped in losses.
The percentage of loan distribution from a cooperative bank has dipped from 15% -16% in the DMK regime between 2006 and 2011 to 9.5% during the AIDMK regime in the past 10 years, he said.
There was a violation of the rules in elections to the cooperative society, the Minister said.
The members of “nominated” and were not selected, he said.
Nearly 12,000 complaints and petitions submitted the election challenger.
“Justice issues orders to call the election of 400 people, citing irregularities,” Minister said.
Raju said the election of the 400 people had not been called.
He said the court was only directed to form the investigation committee.

Deputy Opposition leader O Panneerselvam said the DMK functionary did not allow registration of new members 22 years ago.
Former Chief Minister Jayaalalithaa has committed a legal battle and ensures that new members are being registered in the community, he said.
