MADURAI: By automobile drivers carrying vital commodities to homeless individuals, a team of 20 youths in Sinthalakarai village continues to be feeding over 300 people daily during the past fourteen days by offering and standing food packets in the Madurai-Tuticorin federal highway near Ettayapuram at Tuticorin district.
They prepare two types of rice daily and provide the beneficiary the liberty to select.
“Our village is far over 90 kilometers from Madurai town and 60 kilometers from Tuticorin city.
Places such as Tiruchendur are around 90 kilometers out of our village.
Because of this lockdown, resorts are all closed and people are trying to find food.
So we chose to play a little part in feeding them,” explained K Jeya Kannan, 38, who’s organizing the initiative.
The majority of the youth are all college students or people who graduated and are looking for employment.
People that are employed purchased a couple of bags of rice whereas those jobless gathered rice in their houses to prepare assortment rice .
Even the Ettayapuram Police has given the guys a pass to purchase fresh vegetables in the market each morning and sometimes they assist the boys from distributing food packs.
Their everyday cost is lower compared to 3,000.
Food is prepared in the resort owned by Kannan’s uncle Raja in Sinthalakarai around the street and can be closed due to the lockdown.
Approximately 320 to 340 bundles are ready nearly everyday and approximately 250 bundles are dispersed on the street out of 12 noon to two pm.
Meanwhile, the remaining packs are carried to Ettayapuram to nourish people with learning problems and other displaced folks.
Kannan stated they mean to do this until the lockdown facilitates and resorts burst.
