Chennai: The All-Party meeting led by the Chairman of the Minister of Tamil Nadu M Ministering on Monday urged the Workers Government not to give permission to one of his ministries to the Mekedatu Karnataka Dam project.
The meeting of the legislature in a round voice passed three resolutions after a two-hour session at the secretariat.
“There is no construction that must be made in Mekedatu without the approval of lower riparian states in accordance with the Supreme Court’s command.
The efforts of the Karnataka government to build a dam to the command,” said the resolution, adding how the project would affect farmers to get the water needed , The resolution also said such efforts to the command of the Supreme Court was a challenge for the constitution.
In other resolutions, the parties expressed full support and cooperation with the steps of the state government to stop the project.
It decided to present a resolution to the Government Government which reflects the people’s sentiment towards the project, in addition to taking all the legal steps and all the necessary efforts.
