At present, Tamil Nadu has 8.2 Crore cellular connections with more than 108% teledensity.
Tele-Density is the number of telephone connections (fixed channels and cellphone customers) per 100 residents in the geographical area.
V K Sanjeevi, Head of General Manager of BSNL Phone Chennai, said the request for WFH and online classes increased demand for internet connection at home.
“The need for internet internet has soared because more people prefer Wi-Fi where they work from home and online classes.
They feel more comfortable than using data through cellphones,” he said.
The number of questions for home internet connections rose in rural areas, too.
