Udhagamandalam: In an effort to curtail the energy disturbance because of tree branches along with figs falling upon the large pressure live wires at town, TNEB officials on Monday sliced branches across the HT line in ATC Theatre into Fun town, a distance of 4km.
At a minimum hours of electricity has been interrupted in town because of this upkeep work.The mountain city was observing powerful rain and wind to the last week.On June 15, Ooty dropped into darkness because the city went without electricity for more than 14 hours as powerful breeze uprooted a enormous tree over the Ooty-Coonoor principal street near Aavin head area.
At least seven trees were uprooted because of rain and strong breeze daily.
“Since there’s not any rain now, we chose to cut tree branches near HT lines.
Line care was carried out concurrently,” assistant engineer of TNEB Priya stated.
Regions like Rose backyard, Missionary Hill and also Nondimedu experience regular power cuts because of tree collapse or division slipping.
