Madurai: Madras High Court on Tuesday ordered the CBI investigation into the Group IV Tamil Nadu Nadu (TNPSC) examination where candidates were involved in malpresses using evaporative ink.
The Division of Judge Pushyanarayana and P Velmurugan directed CB-CID to submit this case to the CBI.
The judges direct the CBI to conduct a free and fair investigation into this case and submit a final report as early as possible, without a huge delay.
The court passed the order while hearing the petition submitted by I Mohamed Razvi, a resident of Ramanathapuram district.
The Petitioner stated that the Lakh candidate appeared for the TNPSC Group IV exam which was conducted in September 2019.
He stated that after the results were published, TNPSC filed a complaint in front of the CB-CID police general who had 99 candidates who had them emerged from exam centers in Rameswaram and Kekeokarai in Ramanathapuram district has enjoyed malpractice to clean the exam.
He stated that based on complaints liked by CB-CID, special teams have been formed and some people have been arrested.
Because some officials were involved in this fraud, the applicant moved HC Madurai’s bench in 2020, to transfer investigations in this case to the CBI, to ensure free and fair investigations.
It should be mentioned that during previous hearing, CB-CID in status reports stated that violations were carried out by several private individuals in Convance with two TNPSC staff and clerks.
Explaining modus operandi, CB-CID stated that the main defendant had provided a special pen by disappearing the ink to the candidates to fill OMR sheets.
The aim of using a special pen is that the answer marked with it will disappear in two to three hours allowing the person accused and his team to fill the answer later.
Malpractice occurred when the letters transit from Ramanathapuram to Chennai in a van under the supervision of two members of the TNPSC staff and a police officer.
Based on the instructions given by the main defendant, Van was stopped at Melur in Madurai District for dinner.
The recording officer then opened the seal secretly, took the candidate’s answer sheet and handed it to the main defendant who along with his team fulfilled the correct answer.
After the work is complete, the answer sheet is placed along with the rest of the answer sheet.
A total of 118 people, including 98 candidates (one candidate died), two members of the TNPSC staff, the driver of the van and the main defendant on his team were arrested in this case.
The investigation revealed that no other TNPSC officials involved in this violation, stated CB-CID.
