Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Nadu Transport Corporation (TNSTC) seems limp back to business slowly but steady.
To get started, passenger traffic has increased in two weeks after the service continues and the daily turn of it has touched 60% of the pre-locking numbers.
The number of female passengers has seen a surge, thanks to the free journey that the government has offered.
At present, the TNSTC bus looks at 4.5 lakh passengers, 1.5 lakh of them women, averages a day in the district.
Daily turnover now stands at Rs 61.09 Lakh.
After suspending operations in May due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, TNSTC has continued city bus services and Mofussil in the state in 5.
A TNSTC official said, “When we continued the operation, people were originally reluctant to use public transportation for fear of contacting the virus .
Passenger traffic is very low and the turnover is Rs 27 Lakh to Rs 30 Lakh.
Now the government is increasingly loosening the norms of locking with Kaseload dropped, passenger traffic and increased income.
But, we are not near pre-locking numbers.
“TNSTC Now operates 764 buses – 254 bus MOFUSSIL, 463 city buses and 47 bus stations hill – in the district.
It is only 72% of the total buses used by TNSTC to operate in the previous district.
“When the lock is relaxed, we continue the operation with 511 buses.” Shows that around three people lakh use the city bus now, he said 1.5 lakh of them is a woman.

“In a short time, passenger traffic has touched 60% to 70% of normal time.
When educational institutions and tourist attractions open back, footsteps will increase further.”
