Lucknow: Even as a farmer, protesting new agricultural law, holding Mahapachayat at Muzaffarnagar on Sunday, the powerful BJP has hammered plans to accelerate the formation of new farmer producers (FPO) and make them related to various government departments under convergence mode.
This step is seen as an effort to help the FPO benefit directly from various government schemes.
While at the moment it has a little more than 600 FPOs, the state government plans to establish 200 more in the coming months, the top sources in the state government.
Secretary of the Additional Chief (Agriculture) Devesh Chaturvedi said that the FPO score was involved in various agro-marketing and other agricultural related activities.
“This department seeks to lend further encouragement to the sector that will help the agricultural community as a whole,” he told toi on Sunday.
According to the Department of Agriculture officials, 107 FPOs have been involved in organic farming in 28 villages that have been taken under the Gange Namami program.
Likewise, 300 FPOS has worked as a farm bank, 60 engaged in seed processing and many have associated in livestock conservation.
Chaturvedi said that the FPO in Agra has, in fact, starting a bath itself, for the procurement of agriculture to produce directly from farmers.
The displacement to improve FPO settings is more viewed as an effort to increase farmers’ income and rev in the agricultural sector in the middle of the ongoing deadlock between farmers and the center.
It was only in September last year when the government over formulated the state FPO policy.

“The majority of the FPOs have lied apart from their formation a few years ago.
We only revive them and lend them the necessary support,” Chaturvedi said.
