To curb crime against women, Goa CM Moots Pink Police Forces

PANAJI: The Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday that the country was contemplating ‘pink police’ to handle crimes against women.
“We are thinking of creating pink women’s strength, especially for women and women’s safety.
We think about how to introduce this,” Sawant told the Senior State Police.
He said even though the cave had the best track record in solving crime in the country, the police must also try to prevent crime, especially against women.
Of the various crimes against women, rape incidents have become the highest in Goa for the past six years, with 387 cases reported in the state since January 2016, according to the assembly data.
Minimum 60 rape cases have been reported every year in Goa since 2016 “I hold a meeting with DGP and SP (crime) and discuss what precautions we need to take and the new initiative of what we need to adopt, especially for women’s safety.

DGP Mukesh Kumar Meena said female police personnel would be deployed in certain vulnerable locations to ensure women’s safety and security, and that the women’s aid table at all police stations would be strengthened.
“If a woman who complains comes in, she can give her complaint to female personnel,” he said.
“We made a graph of all the female police personnel we have, and we will send them to public places to talk to women.
Women feel comfortable talking to women,” he said.
Meena said CM had issued instructions for all prevention and prevention measures that must be taken to reduce the number of crimes against women.
“In addition to detection of cases, attention also needs to be given to evil prevention.
For this, we have increased patrols.
I have asked each police station to identify points where the police presence is needed all the time.
We have identified these points and uses personnel , “Meena said.
Talking about the 60-day training program for police officers who have been promoted to the rank of SP, Meena said this training would help senior police officers attend new legislation, guidelines and assessment of the court.
