Times News Network Varanasi: The country level GI Board led by the Chief Secretary of Up will soon be formed to address the problem of GI producers (geographical indications) of certified goods and their branding and marketing.
The decision was taken at a virtual meeting held by the Chief Secretary of Rajendra Kumar Tiwari to promote the items marked on Monday.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Varanasi Division Deepak Agrawal, GI Expert Dr.
Rajani Kant from the Human Welfare Association and the Ministry of Industry officials.
The proposed board will consist of senior officials from various departments including the industrial promotion department and internal trade, Indian government, MSME, export, agriculture, legal and food processing, the handloom industry and export promotion agency, foreign trade, Registry GI Chennai, Committee Mumbai textiles, Nabard, GI Expert Dr.
Rajani Kant, and GI goods entrepreneurs are rotated for a period of three years.
According to the Division Commissioner, the Board will determine the policy for the development of GI items and issue directives for its implementation.
In addition, the board will also build a mechanism for identifying new potential GI products, documentation and formation of group manufacturers along with branding and marketing existing GI items.
The Board will also review the development of GI products regularly.
The main secretary was told that the division level committee for the export of GI items had been formed before, and the district already had a GI center to create awareness about intellectual property rights.
For the development of training and skills, the temporary center of the Indian Packaging Institute also operates in Hastkala Deendayal Sankul, Bada Lalpur.
The raw material bank proposal for wooden toys has been sent to the government.
