Guwahati: The Government of Assam has introduced a draft electric vehicle policy to improve air quality by removing fossil-fueled vehicles in 2030.
The state will target and support the spread of the first two Lakh electric vehicles both under individual or commercial use during a five-year policy.
Design design offers a series of incentives, including 100% liberation at registration and road tax fees in addition to the neglect of parking fees, to switch to electric vehicles.
Two-wheeled buyers, tricycle and four-wheeled EV will be entitled to subsidies for each RS 20,000, RS 50,000 and Rs 1.5 Lakh, while entrepreneurs preparing EV charging stations have been convinced that they will be given 90 per.

“This policy seeks to encourage the adoption of fast electric battery vehicles (BEV) in a way in which they contribute 25 percent of all new vehicle registration in 2026,” read the design of the policy.
“Cent percent of the public bus and all government vehicles will be converted into electric vehicles in 2030.
After 2025, only an electric vehicle will be allowed to buy,” he added.
As part of the ‘Electric Vehicle Policy Assam, 2021’, the government will create infrastructure for electric vehicles, including building a network of charging points and maintaining skilled workers for this sector, to make Assam the preferred goals for electric vehicles and components.
As part of the policy, the EV-charging company will do it eligible for 25% of capital subsidies on equipment subject to the maximum limit of Rs 10 lakh per station.
The state will also offer incentives to produce EV or EV components in addition to 30 percent of capital investment subsidies available under the development of northeast industries.
