Chennai: If Tamil Nadu unfairly pay the price to control the population growth by having a sea sabha seat reduced two, is there a way to compensate for it? Madras High Court has come out with a formula that employs monetary compensation to the country at Rs 5,600 Crore.
Until 1962, Tamil Nadu had 41 members of Lok Sabha.
The number was reduced to 39 ahead of the 1967 general poll because the country had succeeded in controlling the population growth.
Connecting the alleged anomalies with a motion without dramatic confidence in 1999 which resulted in a decrease in the government atal Bihari Vajpayee with one vote, the division bench said Tamil Nadu must be compensated to be monetary or through additional representations at Rajya Sabha.
“When one MP voice itself was able to bring down the government, it was surprising that Tamil Nadu lost two members of parliament because of the successful implementation of birth control in the state,” the Justice bench and Justice B Pugalendhi.
“Nosional, MP contributions in five years can be taken as Rs 200 Crore, although it cannot be monetaryly determined.
Therefore, for each election since 1967, Tamil Nadu must be compensated by RS 400 Crore for a reduction in two MP seats, which amounts to RS 5600 Crore, “Bench said.
Asking the Union Government why the representation of Lok Sabha TN cannot be recovered to 41 of the next general election, the bench is also Suo Motu opposed the top 10 political parties, including DMK and the main opposition AIA-DMK, to offer them responses.
The court listened to pills that searched for the reservation of the Tenkasi Parliament constituency, which had experienced reserve constituencies for more than half a century now.
“Countries that fail to implement birth control programs benefit from more political representatives in the temporary parliament, especially, especially Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, who succeeded in implementing birth control programs, standing up to lose two seats in parliament,” he said .
