The destroyed building was part of the Publicas Obras (now PWD) and was discussed as an iconic site for recreational activities after the PWD office shifted from some time ago.

However, CCP Commissioner Agnelo Fernandes told TII that there were no orders issued by him for the demolition of the old PWD building.
Historians and architects demand that conservationists be brought to preserve such monuments which are real buildings.
When the PWD office was shifted from Obras Publicas, the Department Staff together with the Association of Goa Government Employees Objection, said that they were moved only to make their way for the serendipity art festival.
