Earlier this week, Rohit was named the T20i captain of India and he would now lead after Virat Kohli went down as captains in the shortest format.
Kohli has a T20 World Cup as his last task as captain in a short format from the game.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harshal Patel, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Axar Patel has also been named in the squad for the Series against New Zealand.
New Zealand will play the T20i series and then follow up with two test matches.
T20i will be played on November 17 in Jaipur, November 19 in Ranchi and November 21 in Kolkata.
Both tests will be played in Kanpur (November 25-29) and Mumbai (December 3-7).
