Tokyo: Tokyo woke up with a big bill and soared the Coronavirus case on Monday after doing a midface Olympics that sometimes seemed impossible and had a mixture reception until the end.
Olympic officials predicted bullish, said the game offered hopes and moments that aroused enthusiasm, and left without the main plague of Coronavirus.
“This Olympic match has become a strong demonstration of the strength of the unity sports,” said the Chief of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach at his press conference.
But it will take longer for Japan to take into account the game that is very controversial and opened because the virus case exploded in Tokyo and elsewhere.
Asahi Shimbun every day, which calls for cancellations even though there is a match sponsor, said the event nearly $ 15 billion is “gambling” with the lives of people.
“This gamble continues, making the situation worse,” he said on Monday.
A poll conducted by papers over the past two days the match was found 56 percent of Japan supported holding the event, with 32 percent against.
Only 32 percent said they felt the game “safe and safe”, with 54 percent unsure.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics were not like the others, starting with a historical delay last year which was reversed for years planning for athletes.
Restrictions on the game itself means masks for all, cheering for nothing, and fans are banned from almost all places for the first time.
– ‘High Praise’ – Apart from everything, because the game opened there were signs that the Japanese public might experience a change of liver.
Thousands of people flocked to the Olympic Stadium for a glimpse of the opening fireworks ceremony and the opportunity to take their photos in front of the Olympic ring.
When sports running, people opposed requests to stay away from events held on public roads, and took Olympic merchandise in shops throughout Japan.
“If you see these athletes running in front of you, you can’t help them,” Hirochika Tainta told AFP along the Triathlon route, which passed in front of her house.
Tiering to the athletes is the main theme of the editorial in Japan on Monday, with Yomiuri Shimbun offering “high praise for the competition they pour all their efforts.” There are concerns about what it means a pandemic and delay for sports in the game.
However, regardless of some high profile disappointment, the show remained impressive, with a world record of damaged and the successful introduction of some new sports including skateboards and surfing.
Coronavirus throws a long shadow over the game from the start, and some Olympic dreams athletes are destroyed by the PCR test results.
Most though just happy the game continues to advance at all.
“The middle of their pandemic managed to hold an amazing Olympics.
Always greet us with a smile and so much kindness.
Thank you,” Write an Australian soccer player Alanna Kennedy on Twitter.
– ‘Brightenened The World’ – “The game has been held in the most challenging situation that can be imagined and the committee has superior,” added Hugh Robertson, Chair of the British Olympic Association.
The Olympics are also victory for Japanese sports, with a record of 27 gold medals in all things ranging from baseball to skateboarding.
Japanese Olympic officials said they felt gold fever pushed public support for the match, pointing to the family carrying children to place to entertain outside or hang their flags.
But behind cheering, there was a sense of crisis that loomed from a sharp rise in a virus case during the match.
Tokyo and many other parts of the country are under the emergency of the virus, and only about one third of the country is fully vaccinated as a variant of the fuel delta soaring infection.
This problem can weigh on the political future of Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, when he faces a leadership competition and then the general election in October.
For some people, the spotlight sports swept the worries about the pandemic.
“It’s true that I’m a little worried,” said the 21-year-old student Reita Goto told AFP.
“But in the end the Olympics have enlightened not only Japan but also the world.”
