New Delhi: The Union Minister for the Affairs of the Youth and Anurag Sports Thakur on Sunday said that the Olympics and Paralimpies were historic and memorable for every Indian.
At 2020 Paralympics, the Indian contingent won 19 medals including five gold while at the Olympics, India won seven medals with the country’s first gold who came on the lane and the field through the thrower of Javelin Neeraj Chopra.

India sent its biggest contingent of 54 athletes in 9 sports disciplines in the match.
Badminton and Taekwondo made their debut in Tokyo, both represented by India.
Since making his first appearance in Paralympics in 1968, India has won 12 total medals to the Rio 2016 edition.
This country has now increased massively on all of that number with 7 medals in Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
Of the total 162 countries, India has completed 24 in the overall medal, while the achievement of 19 medals is ranked 20th based on the number of medals.
