Tokyo: Belinda Bencic became the first Swiss woman to win the Olympic Tennis title with a victory three times the Czech of Vondrousova on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Bencic rolls up vondroustova 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 at the second match point, with final finishing at 11:28 local time (1428 GMT) after two and a half hours in court.
Bencic will also play in the women’s double final week with Viktorija Golubic against Czech Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Hiakova.
He wanted to be the fourth player to win a single and doubled gold at a single Olympics, after Serena and Venus Williams and Chile Nicolas Massu.
The ninth seed was the first Swiss who took Gold Singles since Marc Rosses in the Barcelona 1992 match.
This is the biggest victory of Topsy-Turvy Bencic’s career.
Bencic seems to have a big future in front of him when he reaches the US open quarter-final at the age of 17 in 2014.
But he struggled with injury and slipped out of the top 300 in 2017.
He fought back impressively and reached for the fourth career rating Then shortly before Pandemic Covid-19, but failed to win the WTA title since then.
However, it was a disappointing loss for the 22-year-old Vondrousova, which was also beaten in the 2019 French Open Final, after joining 42 ranked with a victory over Naomi Osaka and Elina Svitolina on the way to a gold medal match.

Bencic forged in front by claiming the fifth broke out of a distance of 59 minutes set in the 12th game.
